Deskrawl Zones and Level Order: Real 11-Area Route (1-70)

The verified zone unlock order for Deskrawl, with level bands and miniboss maps. The Cinder Crown is last, not mid-game, and every zone has exactly 7 maps.

Deskrawl Zones and Level Order: The Real 11-Area Progression (1-70)

Deskrawl's world is one straight line of 70 combat maps, and the order is stored in the game's own map data, not invented by guide writers. Every map after the first opens by clearing one other map. There is no zone selector and no player-level requirement in the world config. As of the 1.0 launch build (2026-09-28):

Kings Woods 1-10 → Spire Hill Crypt 11-16 → Spire Hill Crypt Lower 17-19 → Kings Woods South 20-28 → Tazan Wastes 28-34 → Tazan Isles 34-40 → The Barrens 40-46 → The Crimson Vale 46-52 → Veldak Highlands 52-58 → The Defiled Keep 58-64 → The Cinder Crown 65-70.

  • The Cinder Crown is the last zone in the game, not a mid-game detour. It ends at the level cap, 70.
  • Ten of the eleven zones have exactly 7 maps. The crypt is the exception: Spire Hill Crypt has 4, its Lower wing has 3.

Zone names come from the build's own World localisation table; map assets are the internal identifiers.

# Zone (in-game name) Map assets Enemy levels Miniboss map Boss map Side content

2 Spire Hill Crypt Dungeon1-4 11-16 Dungeon4 (Lv 16) — —
3 Spire Hill Crypt Lower DungeonL1-3 17-19 — DungeonL3 (Lv 19) —
4 Kings Woods South CorruptForest1-7 20-28 CorruptForest4 (Lv 25) CorruptForest7 (Lv 28) Dreamy Kings Woods
5 Tazan Wastes Desert1-7 28-34 Desert4 (Lv 32) Desert7 (Lv 34) City of Tazan, Tazan Fishing Beach
6 Tazan Isles Beach1-7 34-40 Beach4 (Lv 38) Beach7 (Lv 40) —
7 The Barrens RedDesert1-7 40-46 RedDesert4 (Lv 44) RedDesert7 (Lv 46) Dreamy Barrens
8 The Crimson Vale RedForest1-7 46-52 RedForest4 (Lv 50) RedForest7 (Lv 52) City of Veldak
9 Veldak Highlands SnowHill1-7 52-58 SnowHill4 (Lv 56) SnowHill7 (Lv 58) Veldak Sky Lake
10 The Defiled Keep DefiledKeep1-7 58-64 DefiledKeep4 (Lv 62) DefiledKeep7 (Lv 64) Dreamy Keep
11 The Cinder Crown Volcano1-7 65-70 Volcano4 (Lv 68) Volcano7 (Lv 70) Mythic Rift, Cinder Lake

The whole world carries one name in the same table: Kingdom of Atheron.

Two structural rules fall out of it. Ten of the eleven zones put their miniboss on map 4 of 7 — the crypt is the exception, sitting on Dungeon4, the last map of the upper wing. And every zone's last map holds the Demon Skull gate, which is why eleven zone names give only ten skull gates: the crypt's is three maps deeper, on DungeonL3.

How the unlock actually works: Prerequisite, not a level gate

The order is unambiguous because the world is a tree with a single combat spine. Walking all 82 map assets in the 1.0 launch build:

Field on MapData What it does Measured across the 82 maps
Prerequisite The one map you must clear first 77 of 82 maps have it. The 5 without: Forest1, MainTown, TrainingGrounds, MythicDungeon, LockedMap. No map is ever the child of two combat maps — every branch point forks off to a town, fishing spot or Dreamy realm.
MapType Normal / Treasure / Mythic / Training 71 Normal (one, LockedMap, carries IsUnavailable = 1 — that leaves the 70-map combat chain), 3 Treasure, 1 Mythic, 1 Training, 6 with no combat type (3 towns, 3 fishing spots)
EnemyMinLevel / EnemyMaxLevel The spawn band for that map EnemyMaxLevel never exceeds EnemyMinLevel + 1, so no map covers three levels. Of the 70 usable combat maps, 57 are single-level and 13 cover two (as of the 1.0 launch build). All 13 are opening maps: Forest1-3, Dungeon1-2, CorruptForest1-2, and map 1 of Beach, Desert, RedDesert, RedForest, SnowHill and DefiledKeep. Spire Hill Crypt Lower and The Cinder Crown have no two-level map at all.
EntryRequirements Items you must hold, per difficulty Only 14 of 82 maps have any.
IsMiniBoss Whether the map ends on a miniboss 10 maps, one per skull-gated wing
No player-level requirement exists anywhere in the world config

Enemy level is the mobs' level, not yours. A level 70 character idling in The Barrens still fights level 40-46 enemies, and there is no catch-up mechanic. The growth curves in GameConfig are also banded: enemy health grows 0.12 per level through levels 0-30, 0.08 through 31-50, and 0.06 through 51-70.

The 14 maps that gate on items, in three groups:

Group Maps Requirement
Zone finales (10) Forest7, DungeonL3, CorruptForest7, Desert7, Beach7, RedDesert7, RedForest7, SnowHill7, DefiledKeep7, Volcano7 1x Demon's Skull (Normal), Skull of Nightmare (Nightmare), Skull of Inferno (Inferno) — one per difficulty, all three on the same map
Mythic Rift (1) MythicDungeon Defiled Wyrm Scales + Frostheart Crystal + Cinderlord Horns, difficulty mask All
Dreamy realms (3) TreasureForest, TreasureBarrens, TreasureKeep Silver / Golden / Royal Treasure Key, one per difficulty

So 68 of 82 maps have an empty EntryRequirements array. The 14 that gate on items are where the Demon Skull entry rule and the Dreamy key grind matter; everywhere else, clearing the previous map is the whole rule.

Where level bands overlap, and where they do not

Six boundaries share a single level, because a zone's last map and the next zone's first map spawn the same tier: 28, 34, 40, 46, 52 and 58. Four do not: 10→11, 16→17, 19→20, 64→65. If you are short of a zone opening, you are usually short of a map, not a level.

Four corrections to the zone lists you will find elsewhere

1. The Cinder Crown is last, not mid-game. It is the eleventh and final zone at levels 65-70, and GameConfig names Volcano7 as the world's final boss map. Volcano7 is also the only map in the build with a CompletionCutscene attached.

2. Spire Hill Crypt is your second and third stop, not the last one. It sits between Kings Woods and Kings Woods South at levels 11-19. Official achievement text calls it Northhill Crypt — "Slay the Dark Elf Mage in Northhill Crypt", "Slay the Ogre in the depths of Northhill Crypt" — while the in-game world table calls it Spire Hill Crypt. One dungeon, two labels, not two zones.

Official source: Steam achievements — the 37 official unlocks and their exact English text. Unlock percentages quoted on this page are the Steam global API readings, not the rounded figures the community page shows: ISteamUserStats/GetGlobalAchievementPercentagesForApp reports LEVEL_70 at 0.5%.

3. Tazan Isles comes after Tazan Wastes. The desert is zone five (28-34), the islands zone six (34-40), and both cover level 34.

4. The level cap is 70, not 35. 35 was the closed-beta cap announced in the July 2026 beta announcement, still repeated by most fan wikis. At launch it is 70, confirmed by the achievement "Peak of Power — Raise a character to level 70", whose official unlock rate is 0.5%. On any page topping out at 35, every zone number after Kings Woods is wrong.

Towns, fishing spots and the three Dreamy realms

Place Unlocks after Enemy level Notes
City of Aldenreach nothing (start) — Hub town
Training Grounds nothing (available from the start) 1 Unbreakable dummy
Tazan Fishing Beach Desert4 — Zone map 4
Veldak Sky Lake SnowHill4 — Zone map 4
Cinder Lake Volcano4 — Zone map 4
City of Tazan Desert7 — Tazan Wastes finale
City of Veldak RedForest7 — Crimson Vale finale
Dreamy Kings Woods CorruptForest7 30 5 encounters, Treasure Key
Dreamy Barrens RedDesert7 46 5 encounters, Treasure Key
Dreamy Keep DefiledKeep7 65 5 encounters, Treasure Key
Mythic Rift no prerequisite 70 Needs Inferno+; see the Mythic Rift guide

The three Dreamy realms attach to zones 4, 7 and 10 — Kings Woods South, The Barrens, The Defiled Keep — at levels 30, 46 and 65, spread across the run rather than clustered at the end, and they are the only MapType: Treasure assets in the build.

What the map data does not tell you

  • No boss health or damage numbers. A map asset names the boss prefab that spawns — BossEncounter is populated on exactly 25 of 82 maps: the 10 miniboss maps, the 10 zone finales, the 3 Dreamy realms, the Mythic Rift and the Training Grounds. It records which enemy, never how tough.
  • No player-level requirement field, so any "you need level X to enter" claim is community inference, not configuration.
  • No explanation of why. The data records the order and nothing else, so this page assigns none.
  • The demo flag does not reconstruct the demo. IsLockedInDemo is set on 48 of 82 maps, which does not reconcile with the June demo announcement's "9 map nodes". See the demo vs 1.0 guide.
Version scope

Every number here is read from the 1.0 launch build (2026-09-28) assets — the build on the Steam store page, now on 1.0.0g. The 1.0.0g notes cover drop rates, a boss drop bug and memory use — nothing that restructures zones. That is inference from patch notes, not a re-read of live data.

FAQ

Is the Cinder Crown really the last area in Deskrawl? Yes. Eleventh and final zone, levels 65-70, ending on Volcano7 — the map the game config names as the world's final boss map.

Do I need to hit a certain level to unlock the next zone? No. Zones open when you clear the previous map. You are roughly level-matched anyway because enemy levels climb one per map, but that is a side effect, not a gate.

What is the max level in Deskrawl — 35 or 70? 70, as of the 1.0 launch. 35 was the closed-beta cap and is still what most fan pages say. The official achievement "Peak of Power" asks you to raise a character to level 70 and sits at 0.5% completion.

Where do I go if I am stuck around level 25? That is the Kings Woods South miniboss wall, on map 4 of 7 — Venom Queen and Ancient Oak Treant, the most-reported difficulty spike in the game. You will also need a Demon's Skull for CorruptForest7 right after. See the level 25 wall guide.
