How Long Is Deskrawl? Length, Ending and Endgame

A first Normal campaign in Deskrawl takes most players roughly 40 to 80 hours of combined active and idle time to reach the Lord of the Cinder at Cinder Crown stage 7. Each difficulty has a real ending, but Nightmare, Inferno, level 70 Paragon and the 100-tier Mythic Rift keep the grind going well past 100 hours for completionists.

  • Main story (Normal): roughly 40 to 80 hours, depending on how often you check in and fix your build.
  • All three difficulties: easily 100+ hours, since each one replays the climb with tougher enemies.
  • True endgame: the Mythic Rift, Paragon points, town growth and Steam Market trading have no fixed finish line.

How Long Does It Take to Beat Deskrawl

Deskrawl is an idle game by design, so hours on the clock do not equal hours at the keyboard. Your hero fights along the bottom of your desktop on its own, which means a big share of progress happens while you work or watch videos. Two players with the same build can report very different clear times simply because one checks in more often to spend talent points, upgrade gear and push stuck stages.

There is no published aggregate time for the full release yet, and community figures are still settling because the game launched on 28 September 2026. Steam review playtimes already show players at 80 hours still climbing and veterans past 200 hours deep into post-story grinds, so treat the ranges below as honest community ranges rather than fixed promises.

Playstyle Rough time What it covers
Focused campaign run 40 to 60 hours Normal difficulty to the Lord of the Cinder with regular check-ins
Relaxed idle run 60 to 80 hours Normal difficulty with long AFK stretches and occasional build fixes
All difficulties 100 to 150 hours Normal plus Nightmare plus Inferno on at least one hero
Completionist 200+ hours Maxed town, Paragon farming, deep Mythic Rift tiers, rare minions

Active play speeds things up far more than raw hours. Spending talent points on time, capturing useful minions early and upgrading weapons before walls appear matters more than leaving the game open overnight.

Where the Story Ends: 11 Regions and the Final Boss

The campaign runs through 11 regions in a fixed order, from Kings Woods at enemy level 1 up to The Cinder Crown at enemy level 65 to 70. Clearing the last stage of one region opens the next, and the final boss, the Lord of the Cinder, waits at The Cinder Crown stage 7. That fight is the end of the story on your current difficulty.

Early regions move fast. Kings Woods covers enemy levels 1 to 10, Spire Hill Crypt picks up at 11 to 16, and the Ogre boss in Spire Hill Crypt Lower guards levels 17 to 19. Many players hit their first real wall around Kings Woods South at levels 20 to 28, where the Ancient Oak Treant punishes weak defenses. From Tazan Wastes onward the gaps between boss checks get wider, and each region boss from the Dread Sand Manticore to the Defiled Wyrm acts as a gear and talent audit.

Does Deskrawl Have an Ending

Yes, each difficulty has a real ending, but finishing one is not finishing the game. Deskrawl has three difficulties: Normal, Nightmare and Inferno. Clearing the final boss on one difficulty unlocks the next, and you can only switch difficulty while in town. So beating the Lord of the Cinder on Normal rolls the credits in a meaningful sense, then immediately offers you the same climb with harder numbers on Nightmare.

This structure is why asking how long Deskrawl is has two answers. The story ends three times, once per difficulty, and Inferno is where the actual endgame systems open up. Players who only want the story can stop after Normal. Players who want the full game keep going through Nightmare into Inferno, which roughly triples the journey before the open-ended grinds even start.

Finish One Difficulty Before Chasing Side Systems

Pick one hero and push the campaign before spreading time across fishing, treasure maps and alt heroes. Side systems pay best once your main hero reaches high regions, while splitting early slows every character at once.

The difficulties and Inferno guide explains exactly what changes between tiers and when to step up. General community discussion for stuck players lives on the Steam Community Hub, where build questions get fast answers.

What Endgame Looks Like After Level 70

Hitting level 70 is the start of endgame, not the end of progression. Paragon unlocks at level 70 and gives your hero a fresh pool of points to spend, and the cap details plus post-70 systems are covered in the max level guide. From there, four long-term grinds take over.

Mythic Rift. The centerpiece is a 100-tier dungeon with enemies fixed at level 70, open only on Inferno. You enter from The Brave Memorial in the City of Veldak, which itself costs 1,000,000 gold to unlock at level 70 on Inferno. Each completed run opens the next tier for single-player characters, enemies grow stronger every tier, and from tier 75 on the boss gains a 15-minute Enrage Countdown that effectively ends slow attempts. Every run costs one Skull of Inferno, one Defiled Wyrm Scales and one Frostheart Crystal, farmed from mini-bosses and bosses across the regions.

Paragon and talents. Post-70 power comes from Paragon points and the 162-talent trees rather than raw levels. Offline characters share Paragon level across the PC while each hero spends its own points, so alt heroes catch up faster than the first one did.

Town, minions and trading. Growing your town from outpost to hub unlocks NPCs and services that feed back into power, all 67 capturable minions include bosses worth hunting, and valuable gear, materials and minions can be traded with other players on the Steam Market. These three systems have no finish line and absorb most completionist hours.

How to Finish Faster Without Stalling

Most lost time in Deskrawl comes from stalling on a boss with the wrong setup, not from the idle pace itself. These habits cut hours off a campaign run.

  1. Fix damage first, toughness second. If a region boss times out or out-heals you, add attack speed and critical chance before stacking health. The talents guide shows which early nodes pay off fastest.
  2. Upgrade weapons at every wall. A new weapon tier beats five levels of grinding with an old one. Check upgrade costs in the equipment upgrade guide before farming gold blindly.
  3. Capture minions that buff you passively. Minions haul loot and grant combat support, and the right passives act like free gear. Browse options in the minions and carriage guide.
  4. Do not hoard gold before the Rift. The Brave Memorial entry costs 1,000,000 gold, so start saving once you approach level 70 on Inferno instead of spending everything on mid-tier rolls.
  5. Play offline or online deliberately. Offline progress and Paragon sharing behave differently from server-side online values, so pick one mode for your main hero. The offline and AFK guide covers what keeps earning while you are away.
Check In on a Schedule Instead of Watching the Grind

Short visits every hour or two beat one long staring session. Spend points, clear full inventories, push the newest stage, then let the idle loop work. Progress per visit matters more than total window time.

FAQ

How long is Deskrawl on Normal difficulty?

Most players finish Normal in roughly 40 to 80 hours of mixed active and idle time. Frequent check-ins land near the low end, while mostly unattended runs drift toward the high end. Build mistakes around levels 19 to 28 add the most variance.

Does Deskrawl have a final boss and a real ending?

Yes. The Lord of the Cinder at The Cinder Crown stage 7 is the final boss of each difficulty, and beating him ends the story for that tier. Clearing him unlocks the next difficulty, so the game has three campaign endings across Normal, Nightmare and Inferno.

What do you do after beating the final boss?

Clearing the final boss unlocks the next difficulty, and after Inferno the Mythic Rift opens at level 70 with 100 scaling tiers. Long-term goals after that include Paragon points, town growth, boss minion capture, achievement hunting and Steam Market trading.

Is there any post-story content that never ends?

Yes. The Mythic Rift tiers, Paragon farming, perfect gear rolls, rare minion capture and market trading have no fixed endpoint. Tier 75-plus rift bosses with the enrage timer serve as the practical skill ceiling for top builds.

How long to reach max level 70?

Reaching 70 takes most of a Normal campaign run for an attended player, since The Cinder Crown spans enemy levels 65 to 70. Expect the last 10 levels to feel slower than the first 40 because experience demands climb while region bosses gate your farming spots.
