Deskrawl Final Boss: Where He Is and How to Win

The Deskrawl final boss is the Lord of the Cinder, waiting on map 7 of The Cinder Crown (Volcano7) at enemy level 70. You need one skull matching your difficulty to enter, the door only checks that you hold it, and losing the fight costs you nothing but time. Beat him once on Normal and Nightmare unlocks; beat him on Nightmare and Inferno opens.

  • Where: The Cinder Crown, map 7 of 7, the last map of the eleventh and final zone.
  • Ticket: 1 Demon's Skull on Normal, Skull of Nightmare on Nightmare, Skull of Inferno on Inferno.
  • Wipe cost: zero. The skull leaves your bag only when you clear the stage.

Where the final boss waits

The Cinder Crown is the eleventh and final zone, covering enemy levels 65-70 across exactly 7 maps. It opens after you clear The Defiled Keep map 7 at level 64, and nothing branches off the road getting there: every zone in Deskrawl opens by clearing the previous map, with no level requirement anywhere. The full chain is laid out on the zones and level order page.

Step What you clear What opens
1 The Defiled Keep map 7 (Lv 64, Defiled Wyrm) The Cinder Crown maps 1-7
2 Cinder Crown map 4 (Lv 68, Emberfang, free entry) Cinder Lake fishing spot
3 Cinder Crown map 7 (Lv 70, Lord of the Cinder, 1 skull) Next difficulty, Mythic Rift path

Three things mark this map as the end of the road. It is the map the game itself names as the final boss map, it is the only map in the build with a completion cutscene attached, and both the Mythic Rift and Cinder Lake open off this zone. If a guide puts the Cinder Crown anywhere but last, every zone number after Kings Woods in that guide is wrong.

What it costs to walk in

The finale follows the same rule as all ten zone finales in the game: the door checks your balance and the clear takes the payment. Walk up holding one skull and the door opens; die mid-fight and you keep it; win and exactly one is deducted. That wording is the developer's own, shipped in patch 0.1.12a on 22 June 2026.

Difficulty Skull the door wants When it is deducted
Normal 1x Demon's Skull After you clear the stage
Nightmare 1x Skull of Nightmare After you clear the stage
Inferno 1x Skull of Inferno After you clear the stage

The three skulls are three separate items, and the door matches the tier you are standing on — an Inferno skull does not open a Normal finale. The complete deduction rule, including the four real reasons a skull goes missing, is covered in the Demon Skull entry guide.

Official source: [0.1.12a] Small QOLs and Bug Fixes (22 June 2026) — "Demon Skulls will only be deducted after beating the level. Entry only checks balance and do not deduct."

Attempt the finale freely, but farm the skull first

A wipe is free, so the only decision before the Lord of the Cinder is whether your build is ready — never whether you dare attempt it. Farm the skull on the free map-4 miniboss of any zone you can still clear, or spin the Lucky Wheel at 5,000 gold a spin, then walk in without fear.

Who you are fighting

The Lord of the Cinder is boss number 20 of 20 on the official list, and the numbers around him tell the story of the whole endgame:

Fact Value
In-game name Lord of the Cinder
Achievement Extinguish the Crown — Slay the Lord of the Cinder atop The Cinder Crown
Players holding that kill 1.1%
Named drop Cinderlord Horns
Miniboss sharing his zone Emberfang, map 4 (Volcano4), level 68, free entry, 1.7% of players

Two comparisons put the 1.1% in context. The level-70 achievement (Peak of Power) sits lower at 0.5%, so more accounts have killed the final boss than have reached the cap — the kill lands just under level 70. And the achievement for stepping into the Mythic Rift at all sits at 0.2%, so the Rift is a far longer project than this one fight. All three rates come from Steam's global achievement percentages, with names and text from the official achievement list.

The Cinderlord Horns are not a trophy. They feed Helm upgrades, and one horn is charged every time you enter the Mythic Rift, alongside Defiled Wyrm Scales from the Defiled Wyrm and a Frostheart Crystal from the Frost Dragon. Every horn spent opening the Rift is a horn not put into your helm, so the Rift competes with your build rather than sitting beside it. The Mythic Rift guide covers what happens once you are inside, and the full 20-boss list maps every other fight onto its zone.

One honest gap: the game publishes no health pool, no damage numbers and no attack pattern for any boss. Any page handing you exact figures for the Lord of the Cinder is guessing, so plan around your gear tier rather than around a number someone made up. The drop rates page shows what the boss loot tier actually contains.

How to win without wasted runs

The plan has four steps, and none of them costs a skull except the last one.

1. Clear Emberfang first. The Cinder Crown miniboss sits on map 4 at level 68, costs nothing to enter, and pays boss-adjacent loot. If Emberfang beats you, the Lord of the Cinder will too — fix the build before spending anything. The level 25 wall guide shows the same miniboss-first logic applied to the mid-game spike.

2. Spend upgrades before skulls. The Demon's Skull is also the Shoulder upgrade material, so every shoulder upgrade eats the same currency the gate charges. Decide which one you are saving for before you spend the first skull — the equipment upgrade guide covers the upgrade side of that trade.

3. Hold one skull and attempt freely. Since wipes cost nothing, one skull buys unlimited attempts. If the build cannot clear the finale, keep the skull and go fix the build; the ticket is still in your bag when you come back. Rebuild routes are the free map-4 miniboss of any cleared zone or the Lucky Wheel at roughly 60,000 gold per skull.

4. Climb the ladder in order. Beating the Lord of the Cinder on Normal unlocks Nightmare, and beating him on Nightmare unlocks Inferno — the unlock hint reads "Clear the final boss on {tier} to unlock," and difficulty can only be switched in town. Each tier multiplies the same fight: enemy health goes x1, x3.5, x6 across Normal, Nightmare and Inferno, while damage goes x1, x1.35, x1.8. The difficulty guide has all seven multipliers and the six content gates.

Do not plan the Inferno kill from Normal numbers

A level-70 enemy carries roughly 448x a level-1 enemy's health under the compounding curve, and the final boss lands near x1,570 on Nightmare and x2,690 on Inferno. If your build cannot hold the Normal finale comfortably, the Inferno version is a different wall, not a stretch goal.

What beating him unlocks

The kill is a key, not a finish line. On Normal it opens Nightmare; on Nightmare it opens Inferno, the only tier with Divine gear, set runes and Mythic content. How few players hold each step shows the shape of the endgame:

Achievement What it asks Global rate
Extinguish the Crown Slay the Lord of the Cinder 1.1%
Peak of Power Reach level 70 0.5%
Into the Endless Realm Step into the Mythic Rift 0.2%
Pinnacle (x4, one per class) Beat Inferno difficulty 0.0-0.1%

Those rates only ever climb — an earlier read on the same day had the Crown at 0.9% — so read every figure as a floor. Past the kill, the three Rift materials become the new grind: Cinderlord Horns here, Defiled Wyrm Scales in The Defiled Keep, Frostheart Crystal in Veldak Highlands, all charged on every difficulty. Track the long tail on the achievements reference page.

FAQ

Where is the final boss in Deskrawl? On map 7 of The Cinder Crown (Volcano7), the last map of the eleventh and final zone at enemy level 70. The zone opens after clearing The Defiled Keep map 7.

What do I need to enter the final boss fight? One skull matching your difficulty: Demon's Skull on Normal, Skull of Nightmare on Nightmare, Skull of Inferno on Inferno. The door only checks that you hold it.

Do I lose my skull if I die to the final boss? No. Nothing is deducted on a failed run — one skull is taken only when you clear the stage. You can re-attempt with the same skull as many times as you like.

What level should I be for the Lord of the Cinder? There is no entry level requirement; the 70 on the map is the enemy level, not yours. More players hold the boss kill (1.1%) than hold level 70 (0.5%), so the kill lands just under the cap — judge readiness by gear, not by character level.

What does the final boss drop? Cinderlord Horns, used for Helm upgrades and charged on every Mythic Rift entry. The other two Rift materials come from the Defiled Wyrm and the Frost Dragon.

Does beating the final boss end the game? No. It unlocks the next difficulty (Nightmare, then Inferno) and sits on the path to the Mythic Rift materials. The Rift, at a 0.2% entry rate, is the longer endgame.
